Elementary School Artwork
Celebrating the Town of Highland Park's Centennial, art students in the school district's four elementary schools were asked to create their impressions of what life was like in 1913. From the hundreds of offerings, 40 were selected to be displayed at the Centennial Celebration October 27 at Lakeside Park - and afterwards at the Highland Park Village. Holding two entries is Linda Raya, legendary Director of Fine arts for the school district - she's holding a depiction of a horse-drawn school bus and an old soda fountain at Highland Park Pharmacy. Ms. Raya was giving the pieces of art to the Town for display and accepting are Mayor Joel Williams, III and Stacey McCord, chair of the Lakeside event. The art will be on display and also on the giant LED screens at the October birthday party.
